Hand exercises may be a solution to lowering hypertension. A Canadianstudy involved participants doing the contractions 3 times a week for 8 weeks.
The purpose of the study was to determine whether the flexibility of arteriesand the function of blood vessels were issues in lowering blood pressurein patients taking antihypertensive medication. After the 8 weeks ofhand contractions, the participants' blood pressure decreased significantly,while the arteries' capacity to dilate increased.
