CCPA KEEPS MOMENTUM GOING
AmerisourceBergen is showing its support for the Coalitionfor Community Pharmacy Action (CCPA) by assisting in thegroup's activities.
"AmerisourceBergen understands the crucial role that thecommunity pharmacist plays in the health care delivery systemin the United States. Noncompliance studies documentthat simply prescribing and dispensing the right medicationis not enough. Patients need help managing and adhering totheir drug regimens, and nobody does it better than the communitypharmacist," said Dave Neu, senior vice president,retail sales and marketing for the company.
Recent measures by the federal government have pressuredcommunity pharmacy. The company's backing will help CCPA inits work to ensure that patients will continue to be served bycommunity pharmacists,coalition officials said.
CCPA is an alliancebetween the NationalAssociation of ChainDrug Stores (NACDS) andthe National CommunityPharmacists Association(NCPA), which togetherrepresent more than55,000 community pharmacies. CCPA leverages the support,effort, and infrastructure of NACDS and NCPA while engagingcommunity pharmacy to participate in and advocate on issuesaffecting the industry.
