The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Foundation announced that James Schiffer, an associate with the law firm Allegaert Berger & Vogel LLP and a former independent pharmacy owner, is the recipient of this year's NARD® Ownership Award.

In recognition of his commitment to improving medication adherence, Joshua Jones, PharmD, President of Integrity Pharmacy in Springfield, Mo., was honored with the 2016 NCPA Innovation Center Outstanding Adherence Practitioner Award, which is sponsored by Mirixa at the NCPA 2016 Annual Convention held from Oct. 15 - 19.

West Virginia University Medicine is a 500+ bed academic teaching hospital located in Morgantown, West Virginia. Services offered include a level I trauma center, a level III NICU, and a state-of-the-art cancer center. In response to the FDA's warning about the safety of homeopathic teething tablets and gels, Hyland's has voluntarily decided to discontinue distributing its teething products in the United States, while CVS has immediately pulled all of its own brand of homeopathic teething products from its shelves, as well as Hyland's and Baby Orajel Naturals.

The FDA has approved its quadrivalent formulation of Protein Sciences' Flublok influenza vaccine for protection against 4 strains of influenza-3 of the same strains found in its trivalent version, along with an additional B strain. It is the first high-antigen-content quadrivalent flu vaccine approved by the FDA.
