The 340B drug pricing program was enacted in 1992.

The 340B program launched in 1992 to “stretch scarce federal resources” in order for participating entities to increase accessibility to care (eg, medications, clinical services, etc) for patients.

The 340b drug pricing program was enacted in 1992 with the goal of allowing eligible participants, or covered entities, “to stretch scarce federal resources as far as possible, reaching more eligible patients and providing more comprehensive services.”
