After graduating from the University of Connecticut College of Pharmacy, Amy Bachyrycz, PharmD, completed a general pharmacy practice residency at the New Mexico VA HealthCare System, where she was offered the ID and Admixture Pharmacy Specialist position in 2005. Two years later, she became a shared faculty member with Walgreens Patient Care Center and the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy, where she is currently an assistant professor in pharmacy practice. Dr. Bachyrycz is a past president of the New Mexico Pharmacists Association and currently serves on the executive board as a counselor for her district in New Mexico. She has been successfully advancing the state’s pharmacy profession by increasing pharmacist prescriptive authority under existing legislation that allows pharmacists to increase access and expand services, specifically in areas such as tuberculosis testing and naloxone dispensing.
