AI as a Literature Search Tool
When used carefully, AI can be an efficient complement to a literature search, not a replacement for sound methodology. Gone are the days of relying solely on Google or PubMed. AI-assisted search can compress hours of searching into minutes, freeing up time for the part that actually requires your judgment: critically appraising the literature itself. Used this way, AI functions as a time-management tool, not a shortcut around the thinking.
AI as a Structuring Tool
AI is also a strong tool for structuring your work—not writing it for you. This applies to patient case presentations, residency research projects, medication use evaluations for P&T committee presentations, and live research presentations at regional pharmacy conferences. The key distinction is that AI helps with structure and design, not the content or conclusions of the research itself. The clinical thinking stays yours.
