The Impact of DIR Fees on Specialty Pharmacy

Achilles Alon, PharmD, RPh, director of Specialty Pharmacy, co-owner of ACE-Rx Specialty Pharmacy, discusses the concerns regarding DIR fees and the impact it may have.

Transcript: "Absolutely, I mean I’ve been hearing about [direct and indirect remuneration] DIR fees since we got in the business a year and a half ago. In every conference, people are up in arms about DIR fees and how it affects their business. As a small independent specialty pharmacy, this is something that’s actually is kind of scary, because we don’t have a high volume, and each and every prescription matters to us. So, if an insurance company is deciding to take a certain percentage from us, from a particular prescription, that affects us pretty deeply. So, I’m certainly concerned about it, and I do want to get involved in legislation around that."
