Is the Marketplace the Best Tool to Decide Drug Prices?

More and more news headlines seem to focus on high drug prices, as many stakeholders are speaking out about the issue.

More and more news headlines seem to focus on high drug prices, as many stakeholders are speaking out about the issue.

How much should a drug cost? Is the marketplace the best vehicle to make that decision? If not, then what is?

I am concerned these questions may cause some to change a system that has seemed to work well, although some may believe it has lost its effectiveness. In our effort to address high drug costs, the solution we chose could dig up a different set of problems that may be worse than the current one we are trying to solve.

I think the marketplace is still the best tool for addressing this issue. Am I wrong?
