How Will the NASP/SPAARx Merger Impact Specialty Pharmacy?

Armada Health Care Chief Strategy Officer Thomas Cohn discusses details of the NASP and SPAARx merger and how the unified organization will help guide specialty pharmacy into the future.

On July 24, 2014, The National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP) and the Specialty Pharmacy Association of America (SPAARx) announced a merger of the two organizations to create the largest professional and trade association in specialty pharmacy.

The founder of SPAARx, Armada Health Care CEO Lawrence Irene, said the merger will shine a spotlight on the role of specialty pharmacy in health care. NASP CEO Gary M. Cohen, BSPharm, RPh, called the move a historic moment for the industry.

In an interview with Specialty Pharmacy Times, Armada Health Care Chief Strategy Officer Thomas Cohn, MS, discussed some details of the merger and how the unified organization will help guide specialty pharmacy into the future.
