“Pharmacists are already providers, and many of them function as providers,” he explains. “What’s lacking is recognition under Medicare to bill as a provider.”

According to Eckel, the winners of the Next-Generation Pharmacist awards showcase how pharmacists are fulfilling the criteria for recognition as providers in order to bill for services.
