Harris Teeter Donates More Than $481,000 to Company's Hunger Relief Partners

Harris Teeter has collected enough donations to provide 10.5 million meals to those struggling with hunger.

Harris Teeter would like to extend a sincere thank you to its generous shoppers and valued associates who donated $481,454.80 to local food banks during the company’s Harvest Feast Food Drive and Donation Card Campaign. Throughout the month of November in all Harris Teeter locations, shoppers and associates were invited to purchase $1, $5 or $20 donation cards at checkout as well as donate food to the companywide food drive.

Harris Teeter recognizes hunger affects millions of Americans including hard-working adults, children, veterans and seniors. In an effort to aid in hunger relief, the Company offered its shoppers and associates a convenient way to help fight hunger through participation in the donation card campaign and food drive. The financial contributions made through these efforts equates to 10.5 million meals* which food banks and food pantries in Harris Teeter’s marketing areas can supply to the community members they serve.

“Hunger is a problem that exists across all of our communities and we are proud to continually fight hunger as our number one giving priority,” said Danna Robinson, communication manager for Harris Teeter. “We are extremely thankful for our generous shoppers and valued associates who help feed our food-insecure neighbors each year.”

Harris Teeter would also like to thank its media partners Comcast, Cox Cable and WBTV for assisting with promotion of the food drive and donation card campaign.
