The FDA has launched an app that informs users of current drug shortages, resolved shortages, and discontinuations of drug products. Users can also search by generic name or active ingredient or find a drug via an alphabetical list or by therapeutic category. The app, which debuted in March 2015, is the FDA’s first app for quick access to drug shortage information.

Need a study aid for the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX)? There’s an app for that. NAPLEX Flashcards offer a variety of ways to memorize facts; students can use the study, slide show, matching, memorize, and quiz modes to learn important information for the exam. The app includes 2900 premade flashcards on medications, diseases, disorders, and a general review. Students can customize the flashcards and track their study progress with the app.

VaccTrack Vaccine Immunizations

Created by a University of California, San Francisco School of Pharmacy student, VaccTrack Vaccine Immunizations is an app that pharmacists may want to recommend to their patients. Using Centers for Disease Control and Prevention information, the app helps users track their recommended immunizations. Available on the app are immunization tables for children, teens, adults, and special populations. The app also provides information about dosage, contraindications, and diseases that can be prevented by vaccines.

IDdx: Infectious Disease Queries

Curious about infectious diseases? IDdx: Infectious Disease Queries allows users to review all the symptoms associated with a disease and all the diseases associated with a symptom. Its database includes 249 diseases in 15 categories, with 104 signs and symptoms, 39 epidemiological factors, and 16 regions around the world.
