The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) kicked off its annual Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition this Saturday in Anaheim, California.
Each year, more than 25,000 pharmacy professionals from around the world attend the meeting, which provides valuable opportunities for professional development, enhancing practice skills, and staying up-to-date on the latest products and innovations.
Specialty pharmacists can gain valuable information from ASHP’s new Section of Specialty Pharmacy Practitioners (SSPP), which provides an enhanced focus on helping its members provide optimal patient care and comprehensive medication management in the specialty pharmacy environment in hospitals and health systems. The SSPP offers broad range of education, tools, resources, strategies initiatives, professional policies, and advocacy to support specialty pharmacists. More information can be found here.

1. Opening Session

In this educational session, topics include challenges facing biosimilar reimbursement, strategies to manage payer mandates, and actionable steps that pharmacy leadership can take to operationalize changes to formulary management in response to reimbursement shifts.
4. Evolving Role of Immunotherapy in Cancer Treatment
This activity will explore the evolving issues, key questions, and controversies associated with the use of immunotherapies for the treatment of patients with both solid tumor and hematologic malignancies.
5. Results from the 2018 ASHP National Survey: The Current State of Pharmacy Practice in Hospitals and Health Systems
