PUBLIX PHARMACIES REACHES MILESTONE
Publix Super Markets' prescriptiondrug program is a hit.The companyrecently filled its 1 millionthfree oral antibiotic prescription andadded doxycycline hyclate (capsules)to the program.
Launched in August 2007, Publix'sfree prescription-drug programincluded amoxicillin, cephalexin,sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim(SMZ-TMP), ciprofloxacin (excludingciprofloxacin XR), penicillin VK, ampicillin, and erythromycin(excluding Ery-Tab) at all of its Publix Pharmacies.The free antibioticsare offered to patients regardless of their prescriptionprovider.
"Filling our millionth prescription under our free prescriptiondrug program is a milestone we're proud to accomplish. Ourcustomers and the medical community have been very pleasedwith the program," said Maria Brous, Publix media and communityrelations director. "Adding doxycycline hyclate capsules tothe program will help meet the health and wellness needs ofeven more of our customers and associates."
