Hysterectomy Can Improve Sexual Pleasure
A woman's sex life does not end after a hysterectomy. In fact, surgery can even improve sexual pleasure, according to the results of a Dutch study published recently in the British Medical Journal.
Researchers, who questioned >400 women who had had the operation, found an overwhelmingly positive response. Regardless of whether they had had a vaginal or partial or total abdominal hysterectomy, all the patients said that they had fewer sexual problems after the surgery than before. Lead researcher Jan-Paul Roovers, MD, PhD, of the University Medical Center in Utrecht in the Netherlands, stressed, however, that surgery is not a treatment for sexual problems.
