Next-Generation Pharmacist Awards Will Celebrate Outstanding Pharmacy Professionals

Pharmacy Times^® and Parata Systems will host the 2019 Next-Generation Pharmacist^® Awards ceremony and gala on Friday, October 25, at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, California.

The Next-Generation Pharmacist^® Awards program recognizes pioneers, innovators, and future leaders in the pharmacy industry. Pharmacist nominations represent chain, independent, and specialty pharmacies; government and academic institutions; long-term-care facilities; and health-system pharmacists. Since 2010, the awards program has generated more than 3000 peer nominations across all 50 states and honored nearly 300 pharmacy leaders as finalists and winners.

"We are proud to celebrate the achievements of those in pharmacy who look to better the lives of patients in their communities," Mark Longley, executive vice president of sales and marketing of Parata Systems, said in a statement. "Nominations are rolling in each day to recognize the importance of the pharmacist in health care, and it's our pleasure to honor and elevate the role of pharmacy."

To honor the leadership and passion of the finalists, judges, sponsors, and attendees will be treated to an encore performance by comedian and renowned guitarist Mike Rayburn. Rayburn uses world-class guitar skills and comedy to inspire innovation and leadership.

The awards gala offers pharmacy professionals the opportunity to socialize and share their efforts in advancing the profession. When asked about the program, Amina Abubakar, 2018 Entrepreneur Winner, said, "I was extremely honored to receive such a prestigious award, 2018 Entrepreneur of the year. I am resolutely grateful and humbled for the recognition I have received for my work, because I am very sure that every other honoree for this award was capable of winning. The 2019 Next-Generation Pharmacist^® Awards program include 10 categories. An independent panel of esteemed judges, chaired by Troy Trygstad, PharmD, Ph.D., MBA, editor-in-chief of Pharmacy Times^®, evaluate entries.

Finalists were named in each category and were featured in the September 2019 issue of Pharmacy Times^® and on nextgenpharmacist.com.
