In this article I hope to open a discussion on the current “wasting” of narcotics by purposely disposing in sink drains.

For much of my career, we discarded, flushed, or poured down the drain those medications that were past the labeled expiration date but still probably 95% active.

For all these reasons and our own personal safety and that of our staff, we have a duty as pharmacists to “limit the violence” in our workplace.

The latest Pharmacy Armed Robbery statistics for 2016 have been released by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
