Jim Kirby, PharmD, BCPS, CDE: If you look at Healthy People 2020 and the forthcoming Healthy People 2030, we are not meeting the goals that we've set out for ourselves as a country, and so this is an absolute need or mandate for pharmacy to step up and help in this area. The equivalent of the entire U.S. population visits a pharmacy every week, and with half of Americans suffering from some sort of chronic condition, pharmacy is so well positioned to take an active role in this space.
