An executive order signed by President Donald J. Trump on April 18, 2026, directs federal agencies to accelerate the development and potential approval of psychedelic-based therapies for conditions such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and substance use disorders.

Michael Ganio, PharmD, MS, BCPS, FASHP, senior director of pharmacy practice and quality at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, spoke with Pharmacy Times about how global conflicts and trade disruptions could affect the US drug supply chain, particularly for older generic medications sourced overseas.

The FDA has approved a supplemental biologic license application for teplizumab-mzwv (Tzield; Sanofi).

The FDA has also expanded the approval for dupilumab (Dupixent; Sanofi/ Regeneron Pharmaceuticals) for the treatment of children aged 2 to 11 years with chronic spontaneous urticaria.
