KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 4, 2026) – Steve Giroux, owner of Middleport Family Health Center in Middleport, N.Y., received the National Community Pharmacists Association’s 2026 Calvin J. Anthony Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented as part of NCPA’s Annual Convention, being held Oct. 3-6 in Kansas City, Mo.
The Calvin J. Anthony Lifetime Achievement Award honors a pharmacist who has dedicated their career to the advancement of the pharmacy profession. Anthony, who died earlier this year, had a distinguished pharmacy career, starting as an independent community pharmacy owner in Stillwater, Okla. He went on to serve on multiple pharmacy organizational boards, as National Association of Retail Druggists (now NCPA) president from 1993-1994, and as NCPA’s executive president for a five-year term. The award bearing Anthony’s name has been regularly presented since 2008.
Giroux, this year’s award recipient, went into business for himself in 1983, just two years after graduating from the University at Buffalo, when he and a good friend purchased Middleport Family Health Center. Giroux’s businesses include Middleport Family Health Center, Transit Hill Pharmacy, Rosenkrans Pharmacy, Hilton Family Pharmacy, Oakfield Family Pharmacy, Wurlitzer Family Pharmacy, Summit Park Pharmacy, and Lockport Home Medical.
Outside of operating his businesses, he has been active in advocacy efforts for independent pharmacies for close to 40 years. Giroux served as NCPA president from 2007-08, and still serves as its PAC chairman and as a member of its National Legislation and Government Affairs Committee. He has also been heavily involved with local organizations such as Pharmacists Society of the State of New York and the Pharmacists Association of Western New York.
Giroux loves spending time with his wife, Carolyn, his seven children, and his now 14 grandchildren. He enjoys golfing and participating in mission trips around the world.
