The Body Shot Bar is voluntarily recalling all lots of its Step 2 60 gold capsules due to the presence of sibutramine.

The dietary supplements were distributed between March 1, 2016, and May 6, 2016. So far, the manufacturer has not received any reports of adverse events.

Pharmacists and consumers can recognize the product as a white bottle with blue and gold coloring. The affected supplements have an expiration date of July 30, 2017.

Sibutramine was withdrawn from the US market in October 2010, but the FDA found that Step 2 tested positive for sibutramine after sampling and testing. The appetite suppressant has been known to cause high blood pressure and pulse rate in some patients. This poses a risk to patients who have a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, stroke, or arrhythmias.

“These products may also interact in life-threatening ways with other medications a consumer may be taking,” the FDA added in a press release.

The FDA is encouraging individuals to report adverse effects to the MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program. In addition, anyone who experiences adverse effects should contact their health care provider.

The Body Shot Bar has notified its customers of the recall via e-mail, and it is arranging for returns. Anyone with questions about the product can contact The Body Shot Bar by phone at 910-849-3348 or via e-mail at thebodyshotbarinfo@yahoo.com.
