PRESS RELEASE

ST. LOUIS — For many customers, checking out groceries at their neighborhood Schnucks store just got a whole lot easier! The St. Louis-based retailer now accepts Apple Pay at all 98 store locations across five states. Shoppers can forego their wallets and now use their iPhone, Apple Watch or iPad to pay in a simple, secure and private way.

According to Schnucks Vice President of IT Infrastructure David Steck, Schnucks completed the new payment terminal rollout to all stores in June and was certified by Apple earlier this month. “We’re very excited about this new payment option that we can offer our customers. To begin, users must simply link their credit or debit cards directly to their device by using the Passbook app.” Steck said. “Then all they have to do is hold their device near the contactless reader and it will let them know when their payment is successfully sent.”

Steck added that payments using Apple Pay are extremely secure. “When using Apple Pay at checkout, a unique Device Account Number is assigned. This number, along with a transaction-specific dynamic security code, is used to process your payment so your actual credit or debit card numbers are never shared by Apple or transmitted with payment,” he said.

This feature is available on iPhone 6, Apple Watch, iPad Air 2 and IPad mini 3.

Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnuck Markets, Inc. operates 98 stores and 93 in-store pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa. Follow Schnucks on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Schnucks.
