Introduction to Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

In this video, Melissa Bagloo, MD, assistant professor of clinical surgery at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, offers an introduction to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) addressing the following topics: description of GERD; symptoms; diagnosis; treatment through behavioral modification and medication; symptoms that should be addressed in consultation with a physician; potential complications; when to consider surgery; and types of surgery that can be used to address GERD.
