Indication: Gavis Pharmaceuticals has launched methylphenidate hydrochloride (HCl) tablets, CII, a generic equivalent of Mallinckrodt’s Methylin. Methylphenidate HCl is a mild central nervous system stimulant that is indicated for the treatment of attention-deficit disorders and narcolepsy in patients 6 years and older. The treatment is contraindicated for patients with marked anxiety, tension, and agitation because the drug may aggravate these symptoms.

Indication: Teva Pharmaceuticals has launched guanfacine extended-release tablets, the generic equivalent of Shire’s Intuniv. Guanfacine extended-release tablets are a nonstimulant medication indicated for the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. The drug can be used as monotherapy or as an adjunctive therapy to stimulant medications.

Indication: Teva Pharmaceuticals announced the launch of risedronate sodium tablets, the generic equivalent of Actonel by Actavis. Risedronate sodium tablets, USP, are indicated to treat or prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis by helping to increase bone mass and reduce the odds of a spinal or nonspinal fracture. The product is also used to treat or prevent osteoporosis in men and women who are also taking corticosteroid medications and to treat Paget’s disease of the bone.

Famciclovir tablet is a nucleoside analog DNA polymerase inhibitor indicated to treat recurrent episodes of both herpes labialis (cold sores) and genital herpes, and also as a suppressive therapy of recurrent episodes in patients 18 years and older.
