Former House Speaker Scheduled to Speak at NACDS Meeting

Ryan, who was elected as the 54th Speaker of the House in 2015 and served in that role until January 2019 will speak as part of the Business Program, scheduled for Tuesday April 30.

Officials with the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) today announced that former Speaker of the US House of Representatives Paul Ryan (R-WI) will speak during the Business Program at the 2019 NACDS Annual Meeting, which will be held April 27-30, in Palm Beach, Fla.

Ryan, who was elected as the 54th Speaker of the House in 2015 and served in that role until January 2019 will speak as part of the Business Program, scheduled for Tuesday April 30. He was the youngest individual to hold this leadership position in 140 years. Ryan was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1998, and spent a total of 2 decades representing the people of Wisconsin’s First Congressional District. During his 16-year, pre-Speaker congressional tenure, Ryan continued his native state’s proud tradition of reform-minded leadership in the House of Representatives, in addition to serving as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

As chairman, Ryan worked on health care legislation and other initiatives.

Anderson, IOM, CAE said in a prepared statement.

The former speaker currently resides near his childhood home in Janesville. Ryan holds a degree in economics and political science from Miami University in Ohio. He and his wife Janna are the proud parents of three children: Liza, Charlie and Sam. As previously released, presidential historian, public speaker and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin also will speak at the NACDS Annual Meeting, during the Sunday, April 28, Business Program.
