Can You Read These Rxs?

Rx 1

A patient presented this prescription to Melissa Pudder, a pharmacy technician at ShopRite Pharmacy in Jackson, New Jersey. She couldn’t read the messy handwriting, so Melissa and her colleagues contacted the prescriber to clarify the drug name and dispensing instructions. Do you know what it says?

Rx 2 When Sam Salameh, RPh, received this prescription at CVS Pharmacy in New York, New York, he knew he’d have to track down the prescriber. He made a call to the physician’s office to verify the prescription. Can you read it?

Answer Rx 1:

Valium 2 mg #270—take 1 every 8 hours as needed

Answer Rx 2:

Macrobid 100 mg #20—take 1 capsule twice daily for 10 days
