Gregory Hare, PharmD US Army, Tripler Army Medical Center Honolulu, Hawaii As chief of ambulatory pharmacy services at Tripler Army Medical Center, Gregory Hare finds great satisfaction through numerous opportunities to help patients every day, including counseling on new medications, performing comprehensive medication therapy management services, and providing medication and dosing recommendations to providers.
GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS
One of my greatest achievements was implementing standardized pediatric weight-based order sets for 20 of the most commonly prescribed medications for pediatric patients seen in the emergency department at my first duty station.
SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
One of my biggest sources of inspiration is being able to take care of those who have given so much in service to our country: soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, coast guardsmen, and veterans, as well as their family members.
PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY
I strive to treat all patients as if they are my own family and to keep the Army values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage at the forefront of all I do.
VISION FOR PHARMACY
I see the roles of clinical pharmacists expanding, with increased efforts to quantify the impact they have from a quality perspective, such as improved patient outcomes, and a cost perspective, such as costs avoided.
As director of clinical support services/ staff pharmacist at US Naval Hospital Lemoore, Vince Deguzman feels privileged to work alongside fellow military and civilian pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other health care professionals who share the same passion about the profession and their service to the United States.
GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS
My greatest achievement is serving our nation by providing health care to our elite warfighters, including those who have given their lives, and the families of our active-duty and retiree populations.
SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
My family inspires and motivates me to step outside my comfort zone and be the best I can be.
PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY
My philosophy is to continue growing, personally and professionally so I keep getting better and making a positive difference in other people’s lives, especially those of our patients.
VISION FOR PHARMACY
My vision for pharmacy includes major developments in prescribing practices, more advanced technology, and increased involvement in the field of pharmacogenomics, in which pharmacists can use their knowledge to create individually tailored drug therapies.
