Hoda Masmouei combines academic achievements and leadership skills with a dedication to community service to shape the future of pharmacy excellence.

The fourth-year pharmacy student from Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy feels involvement and leadership in her profession are the method to bring about positive change that will improve the needs, rights, regulation, and scope of pharmacy practice.

During her time at the school, she served as president of the Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists Student Chapter, vice president of the Pharmacy Leadership Society Student Chapter, and vice president of the Student Government Association.

Masmouei embraces technology innovation, creating the first recognized American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Special Interest Group (SIG) for students in the nation. The student special interest group is geared toward increasing awareness, training, and opportunities in pharmacy automation and informatics.

“In bringing the ASHP Pharmacy Informatics SIG to her classmates, she has also helped create a blueprint that can be replicated nationally for students interested in being innovators,” her nomination reads.

“She has demonstrated compassion with the patients she helps recruit and consent for the study, creativity in problem-solving, and is methodical in exploring ways to optimize work flow for future research employing emerging technologies in similar settings,” said her nominator regarding a diabetes study.

Masmouei also co-chaired her chapter of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity’s Dance Marathon, which raised more than $10,000 for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
