LICE FREE PROGRAM GETS UNDER WAY
Tec Labs and the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) arelaunching "Keeping Our Kids Lice Free,"a national head lice checkprogram. The initiative is part of Tec Labs' recently announcedNational PTA sponsorship.
The program will include an educational DVD to be distributedin each of this year's National PTA Back-to-School kits that go tothe PTA and school officials throughout the United States. TheDVD will provide instructions on how to conduct a head lice checkprogram, as well as how to spot and treat head lice. The kit alsowill include bilingual "Facts and Fiction Guides"about head lice, aswell as directions to visit www.licefree.com for additional safealternatives for preventing and treating head lice infestations.
"We hope that, by educatingparents and school officialson how to detect andtreat head lice at its earlieststages, affected children willmiss fewer school days andlice infestations will be minimized,"said Steve Smith,chief executive officer of Tec Labs. In November 2004, the companylaunched Licefreee!, a pesticide-free, salt-based gel developedby Mark Christensen, PhD, a registered pharmacist in Utah andOregon.
