Discount Drug Card Gets Ringing Endorsement
The Community Care Rx proposed Medicare drug benefit discount card program has been endorsed by 41 organizations representing 25,000 community pharmacies in every state. The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), Member- Health Inc, Computer Science Corporation, and the Senior Care Pharmacy Alliance together have applied for federal endorsement from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services of the Community Care Rx prescription drug discount card. Also, the program is competing for special approval under the Medicare initiative to serve residents of long-term care facilities.
Under the Community Care Rx program, participating pharmacies will offer Medicare beneficiaries the convenience of signing up for the program in their local pharmacy.
"It is obvious from this outpouring of support that community pharmacists are excited about offering a program that will allow them to continue to provide quality pharmaceuticals and pharmacist care services to the nation's Medicare beneficiaries," said Bruce Roberts, RPh, executive vice president and chief executive officer for NCPA.
