Article

The American Pharmacists Association's annual meeting is about to kick off, and we will be there all weekend covering it live.

The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) will kick off the 2019 Annual Meeting & Exposition (APhA2019) in Seattle, Washington, this weekend, March 22 to 25, 2019, and Pharmacy Times will cover it live.

Check back here all weekend for the latest data presented at the meeting. Sessions will cover everything from medication therapy management to opioid addiction, and more. Pharmacy Times' coverage plan includes topics such as dietary supplements, the pharmacist's role in suicide prevention, and pharmacists and provider status.

In addition, Pharmacy Times Continuing Education will offer 3 courses: 1 on Saturday, March 23, on Advancements in Migraine Therapies: Opportunities for Pharmacists to Intervene, and 2 on Sunday, March 24, on Exploring the Clinical Benefits of Antiviral Therapy in Decreasing Complications Associated with the Influenza Virus, as well as An Update for Pharmacists on the Evolving Management of Patients with HIV.

And if you are one of the many pharmacists on site at the meeting, be sure to stop by the 10th Annual Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Registry. The APhA is partnering with Be The Match Registry, which offers participants the unique opportunity to give a life-saving bone marrow transplant to someone in need. Thousands of patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases depend on Be The Match, the most diverse and largest registry in the world, to find a life-saving donor. For 70% of these patients who don't have a matching donor in their family, finding an unrelated match on the registry is their only chance at a life-saving cure.

The Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Registry is geared toward annual meeting attendees but is also open to the public. Please consider donating and giving the gift of life.
