Tim Ulbrich, PharmD, co-founder and CEO of Your Financial Pharmacist, discusses some best practices for pharmacists who want to pay off their student loans. This video was filmed at the ASHP (American Society of Health-System Pharmacists) 54th Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition in Las Vegas.

Tim Ulbrich, PharmD: When it comes to pharmacists that are already working and out there in the workforce, and trying to pay back their student loans, I would highly encourage them to really take a step back and evaluate, to make sure that they’re currently in the best loan repayment option. Knowing that, from the point of graduation, to wherever they are at, in terms of their current situation today, lots can change in terms of a family situation, in terms of other components of a financial plan. And so, the decision that was made after the grace period, and after graduation may not be the best place for them to be in their loan repayment strategy for today.

So, really taking a step back to evaluate that option: are they in the best repayment option? Or should they pursue an alternative path to what they’re currently doing?
