Recognizing Excellence

"There is always a best way of doing everything." — Ralph Waldo Emerson

How do you define excellence? Although we may have different definitions for it, we all know excellence when we see it.

Excellence is driven by the desire to always do better, individually and collectively. That’s why I challenge my associates to go the extra mile, delve deeper, and create the very best print and digital publications, websites, videos, meetings, and webinars to educate and inform pharmacists and physicians. These products deliver the most relevant, insightful, and timely information for these professionals to use in their practices, with the goal of advancing patient care and, in turn, improving patients’ quality of life.

As this Central Nervous System (CNS) issue goes to press, the need for targeted, effective therapies for CNS disorders has never been greater, due in part to improved diagnosis rates and an aging population. These factors are increasing the recognition and incidence of debilitating neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease. The information and resources you will find in this issue and online at www.pharmacytimes.com can help you provide the best possible care to patients with CNS disorders, including insomnia, bipolar disorder, vertigo, and major depressive episodes.

The drive for excellence is also why we at Pharmacy Times invest our time and resources in honoring outstanding individuals in pharmacy through the unique Next-Generation PharmacistTM awards (www.nextgenerationpharmacist.com). We showcase these individuals and their stories to inspire others to reach for greater heights in their own careers. Those who strive for more—and set themselves apart through perseverance, ingenuity, and commitment—are role models for others. When we read about someone who has beaten the odds, accomplished a major feat, or created something unique, we expand our vision of what is possible for ourselves. That’s why the Next-Generation PharmacistTM awards celebrate the impactful results of entrepreneurship and hard work. Go to http://bit.ly/18gniKI to read about the Next-Generation PharmacistTM winners— and get inspired.

What does excellence look like to you? Do you see it in certain pharmacists you know? Help honor and celebrate the very best in pharmacy by nominating a deserving pharmacist, pharmacy student, or technician in the sixth annual Next-Generation PharmacistTM awards. You’ll find all the details at www.nextgenerationpharmacist.com.
