Pharmacy Heroes: Team Remains Flexible, Cares for Patients Throughout COVID-19 Pandemic

Today, we’re celebrating the pharmacy team at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Desert Canyon in Las Vegas, Nevada. As an inpatient rehabilitation facility, the team is committed to helping patients regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. According to Director of Pharmacy David Nguyen, PharmD, they use an interdisciplinary approach and advanced technology to guide patient care.

Throughout the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, Nguyen said the team has remained flexible and understanding during the frequent operations changes in the hospital. They have worked long hours and continued providing the best patient care possible, regardless of the stressful situation.

“Every day, the team comes with a positive attitude in helping our patients and other departments reach their goals,” Nguyen said in an email to Pharmacy Times. “They take time to educate patients and clinicians alike in medication and disease state management. As you can see in the picture, they have kept a smile (underneath the masks) throughout all of this.”
