In this episode, we spoke with expert Jennifer Salvon, RPh, about the potential impacts of new guidelines on adolescents, as well as the risks associated with new anti-obesity drugs.

The new guidelines for pediatric obesity include motivational interviewing, intensive health behavior and lfiestyle treatments, pharmacotherapy, and, in some cases, metabolic or bariatric surgery. Although these treatments do have a place, Salvon said there are some concerns about surgical interventions for obesity in children. Instead, interventions like motivational interviewing and finding achievable solutions could help improve rates pediatric obesity.
