NCPA Presents NCPA 2016 Calvin J. Anthony Lifetime Achievement Award to Lonny Wilson

Lonny Wilson, RPh, CEO of Pharmacy Providers of Oklahoma (PPOk), was honored as the recipient of the NCPA 2016 Calvin J. Anthony Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) during its 2016 Annual Convention.

NEW ORLEANS (Oct. 17, 2016) Lonny Wilson, RPh, CEO of Pharmacy Providers of Oklahoma (PPOk), was honored as the recipient of the NCPA 2016 Calvin J. Anthony Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) during its 2016 Annual Convention.

"Lonny Wilson has been leading the charge for independent community pharmacies and the patients they serve for decades, which is why we are proud to honor him with the NCPA 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award," said NCPA president Brad Arthur, RPh, a pharmacy owner in Buffalo, N.Y. "His leadership with PPOk has been exemplary and helped allow independent community pharmacies to compete in a challenging marketplace. NCPA and Mirixa have also counted on his leadership over the years."

Arthur added, "Wilson has also been a tireless advocate to ensure state and federal government officials understand the importance of creating a level economic playing field. His understanding of the unregulated pharmacy benefit manager industry has been invaluable."

The Calvin J. Anthony Lifetime Achievement Award honors a pharmacist who has dedicated their career to the pharmacy profession. Anthony's long, distinguished pharmacy career saw him start as an independent community pharmacy owner in Stillwater, Oklahoma and serve on multiple pharmacy organizational boards, including a five-year term as NCPA's Executive Vice President. As the recipient of this prestigious award, Wilson received an engraved commemorative plaque honoring his many contributions to pharmacy.

Wilson received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in 1973 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He was subsequently awarded the Southwestern Oklahoma State University School of Pharmacy Outstanding Alumni Award in 1990 and the Dean's Distinguished Service Award in 2012. Wilson has owned multiple retail pharmacies since 1975.

He has served as the CEO of PPOk since 1989, which provides RxSelect Third Party Contracting Services, Central Payment, Claims Reconciliation, RxLinc Claims Transmission, Contract Compliance Monitoring, MAC Evaluations, RxProtect Audit Services and Buying Group Programs. Over 3,400 pharmacies in 48 states utilize some portion of PPOk's suite of services. PPOk is a membership-owned not-for-profit corporation whose sole purpose is to ensure the viability, success, and competitiveness of its participating independent community pharmacies. Wilson is also President of RxLinc, which provides national claims transmission, ePrescribe transmission and data management services.

Wilson served as President of NCPA from October 2011 to October 2012. He has served and chaired various NCPA committees for the past 20 years. Wilson also served from 2009 to 2012 as chairman of Mirixa, a leading developer of innovative clinical solutions that facilitate pharmacist-based patient care services such as Medication Therapy Management (MTM). In addition, Wilson serves on the SureScripts Pharmacy Advisory Council, the industry leader in today's prescriber electronic medical records initiative.
