The FDA recently approved generic silodosin to relieve the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia in men. This condition results in an enlarged prostate, which can cause difficulties in beginning urination, a feeling of being unable to completely empty the bladder, frequent and sudden urges to urinate, and leaking after urination. The AB-rated generic can treat these symptoms.

Mylan has launched mesalamine delayed-release tables to induce remission in patients suffering from mild to moderate ulcerative colitis and to continue remission. The generic drug works as an anti-inflammatory to prevent and reduce inflammation in the inner lining of the colon and rectum that occurs in ulcerative colitis. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic condition that cannot be cured but is managed with proper treatment.

Mylan’s mesalamine rectal suppository has been approved to treat mild to moderately active ulcerative proctitis, making it the first generic version of Allergan’s Canasa. Ulcerative proctitis is a form of ulcerative colitis that only affects the rectum. About 50%
of patients with ulcerative colitis have ulcerative proctitis.

Kaléo is releasing an authorized generic version of its overdose-reducing injection, Evzio, in advance of the patent expiration. The company will start selling naloxone HCL injections in mid-2019 for a list price of $178 for 2 auto-injectors. The Evzio auto-injector is the first of its kind, as it uses visual and voice guidance to provide step-by-step instructions to administering naloxone.
