Pharmacy Times and Parata Systems Unveil Specifics of 2016 Next-Generation Pharmacist® Awards Gala

Finalists and Attendees to Celebrate at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts with Comedian Jimmy Tingle and The Paul Ahlstrand Quartet Jazz Band

PLAINSBORO, N.J. (April 12, 2016) - Pharmacy Times and Parata Systems, founding partners of the Next-Generation Pharmacist® awards, today announced that the annual gala will be held August 6 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Next-Generation Pharmacist is the industry’s leading national awards program, recognizing outstanding pharmacists, technicians, student pharmacists and industry advocates.

The “Innovation and Inspiration” themed event will recognize Next-Generation Pharmacist finalists for their leadership, passion and commitment to an evolving health care industry. As part of the awards gala, attendees will enjoy entertainment from comedian Jimmy Tingle, a humorist and commentator who has appeared on “MSNBC,” “CNN,” “60 Minutes II,” “The Tonight Show” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.” The evening will also feature live entertainment from The Paul Ahlstrand Quartet, one of the Boston area’s finest jazz ensembles.

At the gala, finalists and category winners will receive their awards and be recognized by their peers for this exclusive industry honor. One winner will be named the 2016 Next-Generation Pharmacist, the program’s top honor, and will be featured on the August 2016 cover of Pharmacy Times.

Overall, there are 11 categories for the 2016 Next-Generation Pharmacist awards and nominations are being accepted through April 24. An independent panel of judges, chaired by former Pharmacy Times editor-in-chief, Fred M. Eckel, RPh, M.S., ScD (Hon.), will evaluate entries. Up to three finalists will be named in each category, with all finalists being featured in the June 2016 issue of Pharmacy Times and on nextgenpharmacist.com. This year’s nomination categories include:
