OTC/Lifestyle Pearl of the Day: Pedialyte
Indication: Pedialyte replaces fluids, electrolytes, and minerals lost from diarrhea and vomiting.
Insight:
- Quickly replaces fluid and electrolytes to replenish zinc lost during diarrhea.
- Pedialyte Electrolyte Solution is produced to help prevent dehydration in both kids and adults.
- To maintain proper hydration, 1-2 liters of Pedialyte may be needed per day.
- For infants under 1 year of age consult a physician.
- For children 1 year and older and adults, begin with small frequent sips every 15 minutes, increasing serving size as tolerated. Continue for as long as diarrhea is present.
- To maintain proper hydration, 1-2 liters (32 to 64 fl oz) per day of Pedialyte Advanced Care may be needed per day.
- Ingredients: Water, dextrose, and less than 2% of potassium citrate, salt, sodium citrate, citric acid, and zinc gluconate.
