Could Cemdisiran Keep Patients With Myasthenia Gravis Out of the Hospital?
In an interview with Pharmacy Times, Ali A. Habib, MD, clinical professor of neurology at the University of California, Irvine, discusses what the hospitalization findings mean for patients and why they should be viewed as supportive evidence
For patients with generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG), treatment success extends beyond a change in symptom scores. Preventing severe disease worsening and limiting the time patients spend in the hospital are important goals, particularly for older adults with other health conditions. Hospitalization findings from the phase 3 NIMBLE trial raise questions about whether cemdisiran, an investigational small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapy targeting complement component 5 (C5) production, could help address that burden.
