Alcon announces the launch of DROPS101 Web Tools, a new mobile website that provides a robust one-stop, educational resource about commonly prescribed eye and ear treatments. Alcon is launching DROPS101 Web Tools in response to the growing demand for digital access to patient-centered materials, enabling pharmacists to facilitate an in-depth dialogue with patients at the pharmacy counter.

DROPS101 Web Tools offer digital access to product information related to the treatment of 2 extremely common child ailments: Ciprodex Otic (ciprofloxacin 0.3% and dexamethasone 0.1%), for the treatment of acute otitis externa (AOE) and acute otitis media in pediatric patients with tympanostomy tubes, and Moxeza Solution (moxifloxacin HCI ophthalmic solution) 0.5%, for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains.

DROPS101 features patient-managed customization tools, including:

  • On-the-spot prescription savings information that eligible patients can take to the pharmacy counter on a smartphone or tablet
  • Dosing instructions and games to help occupy and reward children during or after drop administration
  • Options for patients to share tools with friends through popular social networks including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest

“We heard from pharmacists that having a one-stop digital resource to help advise patients on prescribed medications would be useful. DROPS101 is another way Alcon is expanding our commitment to meet the ever-evolving needs of pharmacists and their patients,” said Amy Patyk, multi-channel marketing manager, Alcon U.S. “By offering mobile access to educational tools, pharmacists can help their patients learn more about medication options and treatment support with the convenience of wireless technology.”

DROPS101 Web Tools are available in the United States only. For more information, pharmacists can contact their Alcon sales representative or visit drops101.com.
