NATIONAL CANCER NETWORK TO GUIDE DRUG COVERAGE CHOICES

The Centers for Medicare & MedicaidServices (CMS) has recognized theNational Comprehensive Cancer Network(NCCN) Drugs and Biologics Compendiumas a mandated reference formaking coverage decisions on the use ofdrugs and biologics in cancer care.

The NCCN compendium will be usedby CMS for its national coverage determinationsand by intermediaries andcarriers for their regional determinations.One important application will beguiding decisions about coverage for theuse of drugs and biologics in oncologybeyond the FDA-approved indication.

The NCCN is an alliance of 21 of theworld?s leading cancer centers dedicatedto promoting high-quality cancercare; its clinical oncology practiceguidelines are used widely by patients,clinicians, and other health care decisionmakers.
