Integrated Healthcare Systems (Seattle, Wash) recently introduced the Automated Bottle-Opener. The freestanding system opens, empties, counts, and aggregates up to 600 bottles of medication per hour, automating the process of ?rebulking? quantities of oral medications for repackaging and dispensing using other automated systems. A single operator loads the bottles onto a tray that takes them to an enclosed cutting chamber. The process works with bottles of varying sizes and closure types, including child-resistant caps. The Automated Bottle-Opener uses a surgical blade to remove the bottle bottoms and release tablets or capsules onto an inspection tray. The vibrating tray then drops the pills into interchangeable bulk containers. For more information, visit www.ihsystems.net, or call 800-541-4102.
