David Yoon is a pharmacist owner of US Pharmacy Lab in New Jersey who rode his bike to work each day. Typically, he left it right outside the pharmacy door and did this for years without any problems.

During the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, bikes have become a “hot” commodity and in July 2020, Yoon’s bike was stolen right from right outside the pharmacy door. Yoon posted a photo of his bike in local groups in hopes that someone would recognize and/or locate it, but something even better occurred.

The patients of the pharmacy started a campaign on GoFundMe the same day and managed to collect more $1000 for Yoon to purchase a new bike. At the same time, the local police department in Northvale, New Jersey worked with the manufacturer of Yoon’s bike, Jamis Bikes, and they were able to proudly present Pharmacist David Yoon of US Pharmacy Lab with a brand new Jamis Coda bicycle.

The Northvale Police Department posted on their Facebook page that the new bike was dedicated to Yoon for “all that he has done for his community as a frontline worker, the members of the Northvale Police Department with the help of Jamis Bikes thought it be best to say thank you by donating a new bicycle. Thank you Mr. Yoon and ride safely.”

Yoon was able to use the proceeds from the GoFundMe campaign to purchase extra security cameras outside of the pharmacy and he donated the rest to a local food bank.
