MedPlus and SureScripts Enter into an Agreement

MedPlus, a subsidiary of Quest Diagnostics Inc, has partnered with SureScripts to provide physicians with electronic prescribing capabilities. Quest Diagnostics is the nation's leading provider of diagnostic testing, information, and services. MedPlus is Quest Diagnostics' health care information technology subsidiary. Sure- Scripts is the pioneer in a growing movement to harness technology to enhance the safety and quality of prescribing with its SureScripts Messenger Services network.

Under the agreement, eMaxx?Quest Diagnostics' physician portal solution?will hook up to SureScripts' network, allowing physicians to send prescription orders and respond to prescription- renewal requests electronically, reducing the time spent telephoning and faxing. Physicians using eMaxx can order diagnostic tests and review laboratory test results on-line, view clinical and administrative information from a range of sources, and prescribe medication at the point of care.
