Historic COVID-19 vaccination efforts have illustrated the value of pharmacists, reinforcing many pharmacy students' desire to be a part of the profession.

As a pharmacy student and an intern at Skippack Pharmacy in Pennsylvania, Erica Mabry has been extremely involved with COVID-19 vaccination efforts in her area. Skippack Pharmacy has organized hundreds of volunteers at several mass vaccination events over the last few months, and Mabry has been involved in both the planning and the execution of these events.

In an interview with Pharmacy Times, Mabry said the historic vaccination efforts have illustrated the value of pharmacists, reinforcing her desire to be a part of the profession. One of her most memorable parts of the vaccination efforts was having the chance to vaccinate her own grandparents and remembering the pride in her grandparents’ faces made Mabry smile.

She also discussed the station set up at their vaccination events where vaccine recipients can write thank you notes for the volunteers and pharmacists. Mabry said these notes have demonstrated just how important these vaccination events are in their community and have encouraged the volunteers and vaccinators to keep working.
