HIV Course Focuses on Quality Measurement in the Pharmacy

Video

It's extremely important for pharmacists to be involved in helping care for people who have HIV.

Pharmacy Times spoke with Amanda Ryan, PQA Director of Education, about why it was important for PQA to create a course focused on HIV.

Ryan: It was important for PQA to focus on HIV because, as I mentioned, there was not another course available that focus on quality measurement in HIV, but also, because of the pharmacist provided care aspects.

It's extremely important for pharmacists to be involved in helping care for people who have HIV, and also, we wanted to highlight other areas as well, including PrEP, which is pre-exposure prophylaxis. That's an increasing area of pharmacist provided care, and an increasing area where we want to think about quality measurement and ensuring that those patients receive high quality care.

PQA is uniquely situated to address those issues.
