During the discussion, Wright addressed some of the factors behind hospital pharmacist burnout during the COVID-19 pandemic, what an “autonomous pharmacy” is and what it might look like in practice, whether an autonomous pharmacy might put pharmacists or pharmacy technicians out of a job, what some of the foreseeable problems are that might occur in the implementation of a fully autonomous pharmacy, and whether there are any practices or technologies that could be quickly implemented in hospital pharmacies looking to ease the workload on hospital pharmacists immediately.
