Rx RESPONSE TO THE RESCUE
Pharmacy and health care organizations are prepared in the event of a severe emergency with the creation of Rx Response.
Phil Schneider, president of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Foundation and a supporter of the partnership, said, "The information and guidelines set forth by Rx Response will enable pharmacists to more effectively serve patients during times when community pharmacy services cannot be provided."
Uniting companies and organizations that play roles in distributing medicines to patients, Rx Response will address major domestic public health emergencies of national significance. The partners in the program have worked with the American Red Cross, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Homeland Security to identify and address issues and challenges impacting the pharmaceutical-product supply chain. The program will support the sharing of information among partners, community volunteer relief organizations, and local, state, and federal agencies responding to major disasters by helping support the continued delivery of medicines.
