Hospital Chooses Robotic Technology for IV Preparation

ForHealth Technologies Inc's IntelliFill i.v. will be installed at the University of Maryland Medical Center of Baltimore. The robotic technology will automate the hospital pharmacy's intravenous (IV) drug-preparation delivery process. The system automates the compounding and labeling of IV doses in syringes at rates that can be reached only through automated processes.

IntelliFill i.v. reduces medication errors by using bar-code scanning, vision systems, and weight-confirmation steps, providing final products that are identified with bar codes. The system also promotes long-term hospital savings because final IV products are prepared in a syringe instead of in an IV bag.
